What is Chia Seed?

Chia seed is a small, oval-shaped seed derived from the plant *Salvia hispanica*, a flowering plant native to central and southern Mexico. These seeds, typically black or white in color, are known for their high nutritional value and versatility. Despite their tiny size, chia seeds are packed with essential nutrients, including fiber, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and various micronutrients.

 

Sources and Production

Chia seeds come from the Salvia hispanica plant, a member of the mint family.
